Description
The stripe is made of specially formulated elastomeric polyurethane with high abrasion resistance and improved UV resistance. It is 2 mm thick and 10-20 cm width, depending on local regulations, white or yellow pigmented. The markers – reflective or electronic – are an integral part of it, including the communication wires for the ARMS system. The bottom is made of a special material in order to enhance the adhesion to the pavement. Breaking points are provided every 3 meters in order to reduce possible damage resulting from rough conditions occurring on the road's surface – traffic accidents, emergency braking and etc. In such cases, only a part of the stripe can get ripped off the pavement, without dragging a considerable portion of the stripe. A replacement part can be easily replaced in minimum time.
The stripe can be rolled for easy handling and installation. It is glued to the pavement by bitumen or polyurethane based adhesives. With a life expectancy of several years, this is a very cost effective marking system when compared to separate marking procedures used today and of course considering the advantages of the electronic active system included. The power to the electronic section can be supplied by connection to the public electrical system or by an optional solar power supply.
